CNN.com - Bubba the lobster dies after being moved to zoo - Mar 3, 2005
Today, we mourn the passing away of Bubba, a lobster so full of life that no one dared to eat him. Well, here is a little something that I cooked up (no pun intended) to say goodbye.
Goodbye Bubba
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
They crawled into many pots around the world
And they sizzled on many plates
You were preserved in an aquarium
And they gave you a name
And it seems to me you lived your life
Unlike a Lobster on a plate
Never knowing if you’ll survive
Until PETA set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I love seafood
Now you crooked in transport
But your legend never will
Loneliness was tough
The toughest role you ever played
PETA created a superstar
And age was the price you paid
Even now you are dead
The other PETA still wants you sold
All the papers had to say
Was that Bubba was found cold
Goodbye Bubba
From a young man who seems bitter
Who sees you as something more than just seafood
But as 22 pounds of it in butter
